Run…

Let’s be honest. Some people like to get away from activity during vacation, others like to embrace it or get ahead. Whatever your style is, 33 Beach serves as a good motivation. Whether its swimming along the shore, biking through East Chop, or running along the beautiful shores, MV is a perfect option for those that like to stay active. It’s also fun to jump in from the dock and swim to the Eastville Point Beach, run to the end and swim back (we call that the Eastville Swim n’ Run)! Yoga and fitness studios are throughout the island and easy biking.

Sun…

33 Beach is like many cottages and homes on the water on MV - all things beach are favored. Staying local or boating (or driving) to Menemsha for oysters and sunsets (above) can be fantastic. We make this a tradition, as well as often hosting new-found friends to 33 Beach to take it all in (if you don’t hunt oysters, the best on the Island are a mile away!).

Amenities: Making Memories with Family & Friends

Classic Americana.

On Beach Road between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown, you’ll find a wholesome scene out of Norman Rockwell: kids of all ages (but mostly actual kids) taking joyful leaps off a bridge that crosses an inlet between the ocean and a marshy pond. You can go solo, in pairs, in trios—apparently the key is, “Don’t think, just jump.” Then swim or tread the aquamarine waters below before scampering up the smooth rocks to shore. It’s a true Vineyard initiation.

Boating.

Martha’s Vineyard is known for classic boating of all types, but mainly sailing and ‘coastal cruising’. 33 Beach has a deepwater mooring* and dock, so whether you bring your own boat, or rent one for the day, the relaxation - and exhilaration - from a day on the water is something we can all look forward to. (*The use of the mooring requires pre-approval to use)

The House…

This classic beachcomber cottage is itself an amenity, a homebase for adventure or relaxation. It’s a waterfront oasis that provides a relaxing access to the water, swimming, beach strolls, meeting new friends or rediscovering old ones. It is a house that disconnects you without you knowing you’ve disconnected (there is wifi however).

Family & Friends…

33 Beach is about family and friends, old and new. Whether it is fishing off of 33 Beach’s deep-water dock, taking one a walk on one of the boundless trails that transverse MV along the coastline, cooking a fantastic catch from the day or a find from the market, you won’t be disappointed with the memories that will be made.

Local Dining…

Perhaps one of the best things about 33 Beach are the dining options if you chose to go out and explore. Within 1 mile is Vineyard Haven (an easy bike ride or boat across the harbor) are over 25 restaurants and cafes including the world famous Black Dog Tavern (which you can see from our dock). Whether it’s Porto’s Pizza or Vineyard Caribbean Cuisine, your guests will have plenty of options. Going the other direction, 1 1/2 miles will get you crew to Oak Bluffs which is a little more energy and a few more options for food as well: Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Co. and Offshore Ale Co. are two of our favorites. The Ritz Cafe has live music many nights and a lively atmosphere as well. Edgartown is a 15-minute car ride and has boundless eating opportunities as well, so it’s really what our guests are in the mood for…

Cheers…

Our mixologist friends will attest to the many options that are available at, and beyond 33 Beach. While historically, Martha’s Vineyard was dry, this is only now true at Aquinnah and Chilmark on the far west end of the Island (FYI: BYOB/BYOW is perfectly acceptable). However, both Oak Bluffs and Edgartown are very social and very lively, as is Vineyard Haven (but to a lesser extent). Ride-share and van taxi’s (yes, taxi’s are still here) are all over the island, as is public transportation that comes immediately in front of the house, and is very easy and user friendly. We find that we spend as much time watching the sunset on the dock and making ‘sunsetters’ as often as we go out to dinner and drinks. With that said, the local musician and bar scene is really fun and very entertaining.
